The Secret to Happiness?

A Harvard professor says he knows the secret to happiness and is ready to share it with the world.

Unfortunately, nobody believes him.

The secret, according to psychology professor Daniel Gilbert, is to ask a total stranger.

"In some common situations, surprisingly, the best way to know what will make you happy is to find somebody who is already in the situation you're contemplating and see how happy they are"
So, if you want to become a lawyer, stop daydreaming. Instead, go find a lawyer.

"All you have to do is find one person who is a lawyer and you're already going to have more information about what it's like to be one than you could ever generate on your own," Gilbert said.

That's great advice. I've been thinking about starting a family and had friends around for dinner with their two children - aged 8 months and 3 years. On asking for advice about parenthood, I was told sagely by the father - don't do it. Kids fuck up your life. I was told by the mother it's the best thing I'll ever do. I guess the real secret to being happy is getting different friends...

thumbs up to the Harvard Professor. Most theories say to surround yourself with your desire and those who have a like mind. Great blog, I have just started to follow it thanks to the Myer Emporium mag

One key to happiness is to recreate happy times from your past. If you were involved in the 70s then setting up a party based on the clothes of the time is one way top do that.We have had so much fun running our own 70s gatherings. I am sure the professor would approve
